Friendship with God is a wild adventure; it takes us into places of risk, joy, hope, freedom. It takes us into life and death conversations on trains, deep prayer at McDonald's, beaches in Ghana, prayer rooms in England, summer festivals and filming television shows. The way Bill lives in friendship with God is provocative and powerful, honest and holy. His words witness to a God who is both Saviour and best friend. Like all good friendships, this is certainly one worth sharing. So breathe deep. Open your heart . . .
Sarah Yardley, Team Leader, Emmaus Rd

Are you longing for a deeper relationship with God? Do you want to live your life more centred on Jesus? Or are you simply seeking clarity on the gifts of the Spirit?

Catching His Breath delves into the rich tapestry of spiritual gifts as described in the New Testament. Bill takes time to explore their significance as expressions of God’s love – designed to strengthen, guide, and encourage his people. And these explorations are accompanied by stories from Bill’s transformative journey through life, and his gradual surrender to Jesus. Through trials, thrills, and moments of profound encounter, Bill shares his discovery of the Holy Spirit’s presence in his life – not just as a distant supernatural force but as a loving, intimate guide, teaching him to walk in step with divine rhythm.

A beautiful, refreshing deep dive into a life lived according to the Spirit. Bill Cahusac humbly and relationally explores the ways he has developed a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God over the years.

From his first encounters with Christians, wondering what was so different about them, to his own conversion, subsequent work in evangelism, learning to listen to God’s voice and the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and his ongoing journey of discipleship, Bill bares his soul. He shares his own stories of God’s spectacular answers to prayer and miraculous healings, but also times when he has been reluctant to listen, his own embarrassing situations, hope in dark times, and those subtle but glorious glimpses of the divine.

Each chapter is an encouragement and a testimony to the way the Lord always carries his children through, even when he seems to be silent, in the highs and lows of life. Catching His Breath teaches us how, if we are patient and humble, dedicating ourselves to prayer and committing to follow where he leads, we can become more attuned to the Holy Spirit and discover that truly amazing, no, miraculous things can happen!

Bill Cahusac

Bill Cahusac has been part of the leadership team at Emmaus Rd Guildford for over a decade. Prior to this, he worked in an inner-city church plant in London and then at Holy Trinity Brompton, where he founded and led The Furnace, a community of intercessors committed to non-stop prayer, in HTB’s 24-7 prayer room. He has a passion for helping people encounter the presence of God, and his first book, That Gentle Whisper, explores the prophetic in everyday life. Bill loves a good story. He enjoys watching cricket and remains an ever-optimistic supporter of Fulham FC. Bill is married to Nici, and they have three grown up sons and a Labrador named Marley. His latest book, Catching His Breath, explores Bill’s personal experiences with the work of the Holy Spirit, and demonstrates some of the ways we can receive and bless others with these gifts by welcoming Jesus in to every area of our lives.
